Indian Railways: If you have made a train reservation but are unable to travel, it is possible to transfer your confirmed ticket to a relative who needs to travel instead. This is permitted by Indian Railways, although specific rules and conditions must be adhered to. By following these guidelines, your relative can indeed utilize your ticket. According to railway regulations, a confirmed ticket can be transferred to your spouse or children.
It is important to note that the transfer is only allowed to immediate family members, including parents, siblings, and spouses. To ensure a smooth transfer process, it is advisable to approach railway officials in advance.
To initiate the ticket transfer, you must submit a request at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure of the train.

Requests made with less than 24 hours remaining will not be accepted. For the name change on a confirmed reservation ticket, visit the reservation counter at your nearest railway station with a printed copy of the electronic reservation slip and the photo identification specified in that slip. Additionally, you should have valid identification for the relative who will be traveling in your place, along with proof of your relationship.
A written application for the ticket transfer should be submitted, and railway staff will assist you with the process. Furthermore, ticket transfers may also be permitted under certain circumstances for government employees on official duty, provided there is appropriate authorization.
