Bihar Free Electricity Scheme is going to be implemented in the entire state from August 1, 2025. This means that you will not have to pay any money on your electricity consumption in the month of July 2025, the bill for which will come in August or September 2025. That is, in your August bill, which will be received in September, you will not have to pay anything for up to 125 units. The middle and lower classes will get ‘Maha-relief’
This unique initiative has been taken mainly keeping in mind the middle-class and lower-class families of Bihar. The government clearly says that this scheme will provide great relief to crores of families who were struggling with rising electricity bills despite their limited income. According to government data, there are about 1.82 crore electricity consumers in Bihar, out of which 1.67 crore families have a monthly consumption of less than 125 units.
All these families will get the direct benefit of this scheme. With the implementation of this scheme, every family will save at least Rs 900 to 950 every month. This saving will prove to be a big relief in the era of inflation. Those who have smart meters installed in their homes will also be given an additional discount of 25 paise per unit.
What will happen if consumption exceeds 125 units
You must have this question in your mind, What will happen if the electricity consumption exceeds 125 units? The government has also given clarification on this. If your monthly electricity consumption exceeds 125 units, then you will have to pay only for the additional units. For example, if you use 130 units of electricity, then you will have to pay only for 5 units, while the first 125 units will be absolutely free. This rule ensures that the benefit of the scheme is available to every consumer who consumes up to 125 units.
