Current Status of PM Kisan Yojana
The scheme was launched in 2019. Since then, a total of 21 installments have been released. Through these installments, the government has transferred approximately ₹4.09 lakh crore to farmers’ accounts. How the ₹12,000 Discussion Started
In December 2024, a parliamentary committee, considering inflation, suggested that the amount under the PM Kisan Yojana should be increased to ₹12,000. This was merely a recommendation, but the news quickly spread that the government would soon be deciding on the matter.

Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ramnath Thakur, clarified the situation, stating that there is currently no proposal under consideration to increase the amount. The government has made it clear that farmers will still receive ₹6,000 annually under the PM Kisan Yojana, and the 22nd installment will be released on this basis.
What are the Rules Regarding Farmer ID?
Many farmers also want to know if a Farmer ID card has become mandatory for the PM Kisan Yojana. The government has stated that Farmer ID is not yet mandatory in all states. It is only required in those states where the farmer registration process has been implemented. Farmers in other states can still avail the benefits of the scheme without a Farmer ID.
When can the 22nd installment of PM Kisan be expected?
Based on the trend of previous installments, it is estimated that the 22nd installment may be transferred to farmers’ accounts in the first week of January 2026. However, the government has not yet announced the official date.
