Millions of farmers across the country face financial difficulties during their farming activities. Due to adverse weather conditions, crop failures, and rising expenses, they often have to take loans to sustain their farming. Considering these challenges faced by farmers, the central and state governments are running several welfare schemes. Among these schemes, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM Kisan) is considered one of the most important and popular schemes for farmers.

This scheme was launched in 2019 to stabilize farmers’ income and provide assistance with farming-related expenses. Under the scheme, eligible farmers receive a total of six thousand rupees annually in three equal installments, directly deposited into their bank accounts. So far, a total of 21 installments have been released to eligible farmers, with the 21st installment released on November 19, 2025.

Now, there is much discussion among farmers about when the 22nd installment will be released. According to the scheme’s rules, installments are generally disbursed at four-month intervals. Media reports suggest that the central government may release the 22nd installment in February 2026, although no official announcement has been made yet. The government usually makes a formal announcement of the date a few days before the installment is released.

Following several cases of farmers providing incorrect or incomplete information related to the scheme, the government has also made several important changes. E-KYC and land record verification have now been made mandatory. Farmers who have not completed this process may face difficulties in receiving the upcoming installment. Similarly, farmers whose bank accounts are not linked to their Aadhaar cards or who provided incorrect details during registration will also not receive the 22nd installment.
