There is good news for the contract employees of Chandigarh PGI (Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research). The central government has approved the “Same & Similar Wage” rule. This will increase the salary by ₹7,000. The new pay scale will be counted from January 2024. Around 3,500 contract employees will get the benefit.

After this decision, the cleaning staff will now get ₹27,000 instead of ₹20,000. Security guards will get ₹28,000 instead of ₹21,000, and attendants will get ₹26,000 instead of ₹19,000. This change will add an extra cost of about ₹3 crore per month to PGI.

The new pay will start from January 2024, so employees will also get 19 months’ arrears. For this, an amount of ₹50 crore will be released.

PGI Contract Employees Get Salary Hike After Long Wait

The contract employees of PGI had been asking for a salary increase for a long time. On December 6, 2024, the PGI administration sent its 8th request to the Central Advisory Contract Labor Board (CACLB). In this request, they asked for an exemption from January 13, 2024, to January 12, 2026.

Earlier, the board had approved a two-year exemption on October 9, 2018, but the rule was not followed. After that, the Joint Action Committee (JAC) and Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) directly reached out to the Union Law Minister for help. The Law Ministry finally gave its approval on July 16.

Allowance Increased for Teachers in Uttar Pradesh After 6 Years

There is good news for teachers in Uttar Pradesh. After 6 years, the Yogi Adityanath government has increased the vehicle allowance for ARP and SRG by ₹2,000 and the allowance for Diet Mentors by ₹1,000. Also, ₹500 per month will be given to them for creating their own teaching and learning materials.

In council schools of UP, some teachers work as Academic Resource Persons (ARP) and State Resource Group (SRG) to support quality education. These teachers receive a monthly vehicle allowance. Since 2019, ARPs and SRGs were getting ₹2,500, and Diet Mentors were getting ₹1,000.

Now, after the new update, ARP and SRG will get ₹4,500, and Diet Mentors will get ₹2,000 per month.
