Big Relief for Farmers: Govt to Provide ₹5,650 to Every Farmer, Learn How to Apply and More

Krishak Bandhu News Update: Finally, there is good news for the farmers of West Bengal. The minimum support price (MSP) of raw jute has been increased. As per the new announcement, the MSP of jute per quintal has been set at INR 5,650 for the financial year 2025-26, which is INR 315 more than the previous year.

This means the MSP has increased by about 6% this time. The Union Cabinet has approved this decision, which will greatly benefit the farmers. Experts believe that this price hike will help increase farmers’ income.

Big Decision for Farmers

On Wednesday, Union Minister Piyush Goyal announced in a press conference that the recent MSP hike will further boost farmers’ profits. He stated that farmers will now earn about 66.8% more profit from paddy cultivation than before.

The support price of paddy and other crops has increased significantly compared to last year. In 2014-15, the MSP per quintal of jute was INR 2,400, whereas for 2025-26, it has been raised to INR 5,650, marking a 2.35-fold increase. This increase will ensure fairer crop prices and improve farmers’ standard of living.

When Will the Krishak Bandhu Scheme Money Be Released?

The West Bengal government is running the Krishak Bandhu scheme to provide financial assistance to farmers. With the increase in MSP, farmers will benefit more this time.

According to government sources, the first phase of Krishak Bandhu payments for 2025 is expected to be credited to farmers’ bank accounts in the first week of March. Farmers who have not yet received the benefits can visit their nearest agriculture office and submit the necessary documents.

  1. Paddy – INR 2,300 per quintal
  2. Wheat – INR 2,425 per quintal
  3. Sunflower Seeds – INR 7,280 per quintal
  4. Coconut – INR 11,160 per quintal
  5. Mung Beans – INR 8,682 per quintal
  6. Sorghum – INR 2,320 per quintal
  7. Barley – INR 1,980 per quintal
  8. Cotton – INR 7,121 per quintal
  9. Soybean – INR 4,892 per quintal
  10. Sugarcane – INR 340 per quintal

The rise in Minimum Support Price (MSP) will bring multiple benefits to farmers, including:
