How will the new ₹ 20 note be
RBI has said in an official statement that the Reserve Bank of India will soon issue ₹ 20 banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) series, which will bear the signature of Governor Sanjay Malhotra. The design of these notes will be similar to the ₹ 20 banknotes of the Mahatma Gandhi (New) series. That is, there will be no major change in the design, only the signature of the governor will change.
What will happen to the old ₹ 20 notes
The central bank has also assured the countrymen that all the ₹20 denomination banknotes issued earlier by the RBI will remain legal tender in India. The old notes will also remain in circulation. They will be completely valid. So, you do not need to panic about the old ₹20 notes.
Features of the new ₹20 note
According to the official website of RBI, the size of the ₹20 banknotes of the Mahatma Gandhi (New) series is 63 mm x 129 mm, and their colour is ‘green-yellow’. The back of the note has a picture of Ellora Caves, which depicts the national heritage of India. Apart from this, there are other designs and geometric patterns, too.
How to identify the genuine ₹20 note
‘₹20’ is written in Devanagari script on the left side.
There is a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi in the middle of the banknote.
Near Gandhi’s portrait are micro letters of ‘Bharat’ (in Hindi) and ‘India’.
