The biggest and most important document used in India is the Aadhaar Card. About 90 percent of the country’s population has an Aadhaar card. From admission in school or college to availing government schemes, an Aadhaar card is required everywhere. But now, if you are thinking of getting any work done related to the Aadhaar card, then you need to be more cautious than before. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has implemented some new rules, which will directly affect Aadhaar cardholders.

Major changes were made to make and update Aadhaar

These changes have been made regarding the making and updating of the Aadhaar card. Now, if someone gets an Aadhaar card made or updates any information in it, then a new and detailed list of which documents they can use for this has been issued. Let us tell you that this new list is not limited to Indian citizens only. It also includes Overseas Indian Citizens, i.e., OCI cardholders, children above 5 years of age, and people living in India on a long-term visa.

UIDAI has divided the documents into four main categories, and only the documents listed under these categories will be valid:

Proof of Identity (POI).

Proof of Address (POA).

Proof of Date of Birth (DOB).

Proof of Relationship (POR).

Voter ID

Driving License

Government Photo ID

NREGA Job Card

Pensioner ID

Transgender Identity Card

E-PAN and e-EPIC (Electronic Voter ID) have also been recognized.

For Proof of Address (POA)

Latest Electricity Bill

Latest Water Bill

Latest Gas Bill

Latest Telephone Bill

Bank Passbook

Ration Card

Registered Rent Agreement

Residence Certificate issued by the Government

Important Condition:- The document should not be more than 3 months old. This condition has now been made mandatory.
