This announcement has been made for the financial year 2025-26. If you are planning any important work related to the bank, then first it is important for you to know that banks will remain closed for a total of 12 days in May 2025.
Today, on May 1, banks are closed due to Labor Day and Maharashtra Day. These include weekly holidays i.e. Sunday, second and fourth Saturday. Apart from these, banks will remain closed in many states due to local festivals and special days.

In May, banks will remain closed for a total of 6 days due to weekly holidays. This includes all Sundays i.e. 4, 11, 18 and 25 May and the second Saturday i.e. 10 May and the fourth Saturday i.e. 24 May.

May 1 (Thursday): Labour Day and Maharashtra Day – Banks will be closed in Belapur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Guwahati, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Imphal, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji, Patna and Thiruvananthapuram.
May 9 (Friday): Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti – Banks will remain closed in Kolkata.
May 12 (Monday): Buddha Purnima – Banks will remain closed in Agartala, Aizawl, Belapur, Bhopal, Dehradun, Itanagar, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla and Srinagar.
May 16 (Friday): State Day – Banks will remain closed in Gangtok.
May 26 (Monday): Kazi Nazrul Islam Birth Anniversary – Banks will remain closed in Agartala.
May 29 (Thursday) : Maharana Pratap Jayanti – Banks will remain closed in Shimla.
Will online banking services be available?
Although bank branches will remain closed on these dates, customers will be able to transact through digital means like UPI, Net Banking, Mobile Banking, IMPS. These services will be available 24×7. Customers are advised to complete important bank related work in time so that any kind of inconvenience can be avoided during the holidays.
