If the name or address on your Aadhaar card is wrong, or there has been any change recently, then now you do not have to worry at all. The government has given big good news for the common people. The date for the free facility to update online information in Aadhaar has been extended. Earlier this date was 14 June 2025, which has now been extended by one year to 14 June 2026.
UIDAI i.e. Unique Identification Authority of India has extended the facility of Aadhaar Card Document Update by one more year. Now you can update your identity (Proof of Identity – PoI) and address (Proof of Address – PoA) related documents online without any charge till 14 June 2026. What cannot be updated online
But there is some information that you cannot update online. If you want to update your mobile number, email ID, biometric information (such as fingerprint or iris scan), or photo, then for this you will have to go to your nearest Aadhaar Service Center. There you will have to pay a small fee, which is ₹ 50.
How to update Aadhaar online
Updating your Aadhaar online is extremely easy and you can do it in just a few minutes:
- First, visit the https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in website.
- Log in using your 12-digit Aadhaar number and the received OTP (one-time password). The OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number.
- Upload your Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) documents. These documents can be in JPEG, PNG, or PDF format and should be of a maximum of 2MB in size.
- Submit your request and note down the 14-digit URN number. This number will help in tracking the status of your application.
- Once your request is approved, you can download the updated Aadhaar from the portal.

The special update process for address
- If you want to update the address only, click on ‘Proceed to Update Address’.
- Enter the new address and upload the relevant documents (like electricity bill, bank passbook, etc.).
- Submit the request and get your URN.
