New Delhi: The Aadhaar card is an essential document in India. Without an Aadhar card, all the work, including bank and government schemes, gets stuck in the middle. Now, the Aadhaar card has been made mandatory even for booking Tatkal tickets. If your IRCTC account is not linked to your Aadhaar card number, you will not be able to book a Tatkal ticket.
Indian Railways has made it clear that the accounts of users whose accounts are not verified with an Aadhar card can be closed entirely. This will be a big blow for railway passengers. According to the railway report, about 2.25 lakh passengers book Tatkal tickets every day. Therefore, it is essential to link your IRCTC account with your Aadhaar card, ensuring there are no issues of any kind.
Fake accounts will be banned.
According to the railway report, the data from May 24 to June 2 showed that as soon as the booking window opens, very few tickets are booked within the first minute. But as soon as the second minute is over, their number increases four times. The reason for this is believed to be the presence of bots and fake accounts. A big step has been taken by the railways to curb this.
So far, with the help of artificial intelligence, more than 2.4 crore fake IDs have been cancelled, while 20 lakh accounts are under investigation. The railways clearly stated that accounts not linked to an Aadhaar card will be gradually deactivated. This is a big blow for people using fake IDs.
These people will get the benefit.
According to the railways, users whose accounts are linked to Aadhaar will be given priority in the first 10 minutes of the Tatkal ticket booking process. Even authorised agents of IRCTC will be able to complete the ticket booking work within the first 10 minutes. Additionally, there is a possibility that Aadhaar-based OTPs may become mandatory for the railways. If this happens, then an Aadhaar card will be required for ticket booking from the counter.
