Pension: To help the elderly, the Yogi government will give the benefit of old age pension to five lakh more eligible people in the financial year 2025-26. Currently, the Social Welfare Department gives old age pension to 60 lakh elderly people every third month at the rate of one thousand rupees per month. In the financial year 2025-26, the government will give old age pension to 65 lakh elderly people.
For this, a proposal of Rs 8103 crore has been sent in the budget. .In the financial year 2024-25, the Social Welfare Department received Rs 7377 crore under this head. In this way, an additional budget of Rs 726.64 crore has been demanded for old age pension in the next financial year.
The Social Welfare Department has sought a total of Rs 13056 crore in the budget including all items including welfare schemes and establ ishment. This is Rs 1052 crore more than the budget of the year 2024-25. The Social Welfare Department has proposed Rs 1862 crore for its various scholarship schemes for the next financial year. The same amount was given for this item in the current financial year as well. A proposal of Rs 500 crore has been sent for the Family Benefit Scheme. The same amount was allocated in the budget in the current financial year. A demand of Rs 55 crore has been made for the Abhyudaya Scheme, which provides free preparation for competitive examinations to poor meritorious students.
This is Rs 25 crore more than the amount received in the current financial year. Similarly, for the mass marriage scheme, a demand of Rs 600 crore has been made in the next financial year like the present.
A proposal of Rs 100 crore for the marriage of Scheduled Caste eligible persons and Rs 50 crore for the marriage of General category eligible persons has been sent in the budget for the Individual Marriage Scheme.
