Consultant Recruitment Underway

In this regard, applications have been solicited for the recruitment of consultants. As per the Office Memorandum released on April 10, 2026, this recruitment will occur on a contractual basis. Interested candidates can apply online, according to the Pay Commission’s website. Recruitment is categorized into three levels. For the Senior Consultant position, a minimum of 10 years of experience and a maximum age of 45 years is required. The Consultant role necessitates 6 years of experience with an age limit of 40 years, while the Young Professional position requires 4 years of experience and a maximum age of 32 years. Candidates should possess a Master’s or MBA degree in Finance, HR, or Industrial Relations. Additionally, those with an LLB degree and legal experience are also eligible to apply.

What Will Be Done?

The Pay Commission’s objective is to evaluate the salaries, allowances, and pension frame works for various categories of government employees. Consultants will be instrumental in this endeavor. The selected candidates will undertake tasks such as analyzing salary structures, examining data, liaising with different ministries, preparing reports, and evaluating financial implications. In terms of compensation, a full-time senior consultant will earn Rs 1.80 lakh, a consultant will receive Rs 1.20 lakh, and a young professional will be paid Rs 90,000 monthly.

Who are the key figures in the Pay Commission?

According to the notification of the 8th Central Pay Commission, Ranjana Prakash Desai, former Supreme Court judge, is the chairperson, with Professor Pulak Ghosh (Permanent Professor of Finance and Member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council) as a member of the Commission, and Pankaj Jain (former IAS officer) as its member-secretary.

The Pay Commission collects views and suggestions (inputs) from various ministries, employee unions, pensioners, and other relevant stakeholders. In March and April 2026, the Commission initiated the process of submitting a formal memorandum and scheduled consultation sessions with stakeholders, including a meeting held in Dehradun on April 24, 2026.
