The worry of central government workers about the 8th Pay Commission may end on Monday, July 21. On this day, the government may give an answer and tell the date of the notice, what work the commission will do (ToR), and when it will start.
The Finance Ministry will likely give a reply about the delay in the 8th Pay Commission during the Monsoon Session of Lok Sabha, starting from July 21, 2025. MPs like TR Balu and Anand Bhadoria have asked questions about when the notice will come, when the commission will start, and how much time it will take.
Work on the Commission Has Not Started Even After 6 Months
It is important to note that in January 2025, the government had announced the 8th Pay Commission. But till now, the Terms of Reference (ToR) have not been issued. Also, the chairman and members of the commission have not been selected yet.
Some MPs have asked in Parliament whether the government has issued the notification for the commission. If not, they want to know the reason for the delay, even after six months.
These Major Questions Will Be Asked in Parliament
- Has the notification of the 8th Pay Commission been officially issued?
- If the notification has not been issued, then what are the main reasons for the delay?
- By when will the chairman and members of the commission be selected, and what will be included in the ToR?
When Will the Salary of Employees Increase?
The 7th Pay Commission was implemented in January 2016. Now, after 10 years, the 8th Pay Commission is expected in 2024-25. Due to rising inflation and high cost of living, central government employees have been waiting for a salary increase.
About 50 lakh central employees and 65 lakh pensioners are waiting for this big decision. The 8th Pay Commission may not only increase salaries but also bring changes in dearness allowance (DA), house rent allowance (HRA), and the pension system.
Why Is 21st July Important?
When this issue is raised in Parliament on 21st July, the government will give an official and detailed answer for the first time. This is why government employees, pensioners, and their unions are closely watching what happens on this day.
