3.5 Lakh Pensioners Must Complete e-KYC or Risk Stopping of Pension Payments

A big update has come for the pensioners of Madhya Pradesh. Around 3.5 lakh pensioners who are getting benefits under government pension schemes must complete their e-KYC along with the life certificate by 31 August. If they fail to do so, their pension will be stopped.

Department Gave Instructions

The Department of Social Justice and Disabled People Empowerment has instructed all collectors, CEOs of Panchayats, and Municipal Corporations to complete e-KYC by 31 August. If not done, the pensioner’s account will be locked on the pension portal. According to the department, 3.5 lakh pensioners have still not completed e-KYC. All pensioners must verify their data online.

In the portal created by NIC, if a pensioner is found to be dead, migrated, or ineligible, the pension is stopped. Because of this, the pension of many people has already been stopped. The government provides pension through various schemes, including:

  • Social Security Pension
  • Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension
  • Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension
  • Indira Gandhi National Disabled Pension
  • Chief Minister Kanya Parent Pension Scheme

About Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme

Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS) is implemented by Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. It is a non-contributory pension scheme to provide social security to widows of poor family (BPL) of the society.

Benefits

A pension of Rs.300/- per month is provided to Widows between 40 years and 79 years. For persons who are 80 years and above the pension is Rs.500/- per month.

Eligibility

The eligibility criteria under Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS) is:-

The applicant must be a widow in the age group of 40-79 years.
The applicant should belong to a household living below the poverty line according to the criteria prescribed by the Govt. of India
