150 new trains- Good news for train travellers. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav makes big announcement. Indian Railways is continuously expanding the facilities for its passengers and now Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has made a big announcement that soon 150 new passenger trains will be run in the country.
These will especially provide convenience to rail passengers traveling short distances. Along with this, work is in full swing to upgrade and modernize the already running passenger trains and 1200 extra coaches have been added to them. A major announcement has been made by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav with the aim of making short-distance rail travel in India even more comfortable.
The Union Minister revealed the government’s plan to significantly expand and modernize the passenger train network across the country. He said that 100 new Main Line Electric Multiple Units (MEMU) and 50 additional Namo Bharat Trains will be introduced soon.
Ashwini Vaishnav made this announcement while launching India’s largest Gati Shakti multimodal cargo terminal at Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar siding in Haryana. It has been developed under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan. The aim of this terminal is to increase the efficiency of freight transportation by seamlessly integrating rail and road logistics.
MEMU trains will have 20 coaches, not 12
Focusing on the increasing demand for short-distance rail travel, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the 100 new MEMU trains being prepared in this expansion will have 16 and 20 coaches. The current MEMU trains are usually being operated with 8 or 12 coaches. He said that the objective of this step is to make regional connectivity easier along with allowing more passengers to travel. Along with this, a new ticketing system is also being implemented by removing the difficulties related to getting train tickets. The Railway Minister expressed hope that these modern MEMUs will significantly improve short-distance travel and travel in different parts of the country.
50 Namo Bharat AC trains will also run
After the positive response received by the first two trains Namo Bharat AC Trains started between Ahmedabad-Bhuj and Patna-Jaynagar, now the government is planning to start 50 more Namo Bharat AC trains. According to the Railway Minister, these trains are getting very good response from the passengers and with the addition of 50 new AC trains, passengers will get the option of fast, comfortable AC rail travel for more areas.
