Ganesh Chaturthi 2026 Puja Samagri – Like every year, this time too there is some confusion regarding the dates of 13th and 14th September for Ganesh Chaturthi. According to the Panchang, Chaturthi Tithi will start from the morning of 14th September and will continue till the morning of 15th September. According to Udaya Tithi, Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on 14th September only. Ganpati will be established and worshipped on this day.
Easy method of establishing Ganpati
There is not much to be done to make Bappa present in the house. Just follow these steps:
First of all, clean the place of worship thoroughly. Place a stool there and spread a clean cloth on it. After this, install the idol of Lord Ganesha. After installing the idol, bathe Bappa with water and Panchamrit. Then offer them clothes, flowers, Durva and other worship materials. Offer Modak and perform Aarti, and distribute Prasad.
What to offer in worship: Durva, red flowers, modak, fruits and sweets have special importance in the worship of Lord Ganesha.
Do not use these things
Offering Tulsi Dal in the worship of Lord Ganesha is considered prohibited. There is a mythological story behind it. It is believed that Tulsi had proposed marriage to Lord Ganesha, which he rejected. Angered by this, Tulsi cursed Lord Ganesha to have two marriages. In response, Lord Ganesha also cursed Tulsi to marry a demon.
Later, when Tulsi asked for forgiveness, Ganesha said that she would be dear to Lord Vishnu, but Tulsi would never be offered in his worship. Therefore, do not use Tulsi in Ganesh Puja. Apart from this, Ketaki flower is also not offered in Ganesh Puja. There is a tradition of always using clean and whole rice in puja.
Ganeshotsav will last for 10 days; immersion on 25th September
The 10-day Ganeshotsav will begin with Ganesh Chaturthi. During this period, Bappa will be worshipped in homes and public pandals. Along with morning and evening aarti, there will also be bhajan-kirtan and religious programs.
Ganeshotsav will conclude on 25 September 2026 on Anant Chaturdashi. On this day, a large number of devotees will immerse the idol of Ganapati. However, according to their tradition, many people do immersion in one and a half, three, five or even seven days.
Why celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi?
Ganesh ji is considered the remover of obstacles and the first worshipable deity. There is a tradition of remembering and worshipping Lord Ganesha before starting any auspicious work. It is believed that by worshipping him, obstacles in life are removed and one attains intelligence, wisdom and prosperity.
