
Bihar Flood Update: Bihar has been grappling with severe floods for some time now. Swollen rivers have washed away people’s homes, forcing many to live in relief camps or under the open sky. Amidst this crisis, Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has announced relief payments for the victims. On Wednesday, during a visit to Champaran, he personally served food to the affected people. He also instructed officials to provide each victim with financial assistance of ₹7,000.
The government is actively assisting flood victims, and Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary has been personally visiting the affected areas. During his tour of West Champaran, he visited a relief camp and served food to the victims while also directing officials to transfer the ₹7,000 assistance amount directly into the accounts of all affected individuals.

Bihar Deputy CM Interacts with Flood Victims
Samrat Choudhary conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas last Wednesday. During the visit, he inspected a flood relief camp in the Bairia block of West Champaran and served food to people at a community kitchen. He interacted with flood-affected families to understand their grievances and discussed arrangements for distributing relief funds.
When Will the ₹7,000 Be Transferred?
According to media reports, preparations are underway to transfer this amount to flood-affected families via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) on October 9. The aim is to provide the relief amount before Durga Puja. Previously, on September 15, the government had already sent financial assistance totalling ₹579.23 crore to 827,472 flood-affected families in the state.
The Deputy CM has also directed that community kitchens continue to operate in the affected areas until the situation returns to normal. Officials have been instructed to remain vigilant and ensure the availability of adequate dry rations and other essential supplies for the flood victims.
Preparations Underway for Disbursement of Funds on October 9
The Chief Minister has directed officials to intensify relief and rescue operations. He further instructed that community kitchens must continue to operate until the situation returns to normal. Instructions have also been issued to provide adequate dry rations and other relief materials to flood-affected people. During a review meeting with officials, preparations for disbursing relief amounts to flood-affected families were also discussed.
According to available reports, preparations are being made to transfer ₹7,000 per family via DBT on October 9. Previously, on September 15, ₹7,000 had been transferred to the accounts of 827,472 flood-affected families in Bihar; a total amount of ₹579.23 crore was disbursed through DBT at that time.
