Lado Lakshmi Installment: In Haryana, an instalment of Rs 2,100 under the ‘Lado Lakshmi Yojana’ has been credited to the accounts of 1.1 million (11 lakh) women. This will make for a brighter Diwali for approximately 5.2 million (52 lakh) people in Haryana, including the poor, women, and farmers. While the government typically releases these funds on the 10th of each month, it was decided to disburse the amount four days early this time due to the festive season.
A total of approximately Rs 1,650 crore will be credited to the accounts of beneficiaries across various schemes. The Haryana government has also significantly increased the honourarium for rural watchmen (gramin chowkidars) by more than Rs 4,000; as a Diwali gift, their monthly remuneration has been raised from Rs 11,000 to Rs 15,221.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini stated that this increase in the monthly honourarium for rural watchmen was implemented before Diwali. Speaking at an event on Friday, the Chief Minister noted that in 2014, rural watchmen received an honourarium of only Rs 3,500 per month—an amount that has now increased by more than four times. The Saini government has released Rs 4,470 crore, allocated across 21 different social welfare schemes, including pensions for the elderly, widows, and the destitute.
