Volvo EX30: Volvo has hinted at the coming of its smallest premium electric SUV, the EX30, in India with a tidy reveal that promises so much more than just size. With sparse but contemporary styling cues and a new presentation of Volvo’s design language, this forthcoming EV promises to be small yet engaging. The reveal generates curiosity among customers, indicating Volvo’s move to introduce a young, tech-inclined electric choice in the market.
Volvo EX30 Teased Ahead of Indian Debut
Volvo has officially confirmed that the EX30 will arrive in India shortly, after the new XC60 this month. Slated below the EC40 and EX40, this small electric SUV will be Volvo’s lowest-priced electric model in the market. The EX30 was seen under thick camouflage during testing on public roads before it was launched, and the company also hinted at its arrival through social media platforms.
Likely Pricing
Reports indicate that Volvo might launch the EX30 around ₹45 lakh (ex-showroom). To keep it competitively priced, local assembly is being considered—this would make the EV land just shy of that ₹45 lakh threshold.
Battery, Range, and Powertrain Options
The EX30 shares its architecture with Volvo’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform. For India, the probable battery variant is a 69 kWh Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) battery. The capacity of this battery has been used to provide single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive variants, providing maximum power up to 427 bhp. The full-charge range is stated at 474 km.
Stylish Exterior Inspired by EX90
Though its footprint is smaller, the EX30 borrows unmistakable design elements from the bigger EX90. It wears refined LED headlights with Volvo’s famous Thor’s Hammer daytime running lights, and unique pixel-like tail lamps.
Premium Cabin and Safety
Internally, the EX30 will boast a vertically mounted high 12.3-inch touchscreen with Google’s interface. The interior is designed to be sustainable, employing recycled materials for the upholstery and trims. Volvo aims to provide various airbags, a multifunction steering wheel, vertical AC vents, wireless charger, 360° camera system, ADAS technologies, and many more.
