Historic decision of the GST Council

It is worth noting that the GST Council recently decided to implement new tax rates from September 22, 2025. Under the new rules, vehicles with petrol engines less than 1200 cc and diesel engines up to 1500 cc (those less than 4 meters long) are now placed in the 18% GST slab. Previously, these vehicles were subject to 28% GST. Meanwhile, luxury and large cars, which were previously subject to 28% GST and approximately 22% cess (totaling to 50%), have now been placed in a single GST slab of 40% under the new GST structure.

Toyota has advised customers to contact their nearest authorized dealership for the new prices, as the GST exemption benefits may vary slightly depending on the variant and location. The company has advised customers to book well in advance, keeping in mind the increased demand during the festive season.
