The mid-capacity bike segment has become more interesting than ever in 2026. On one side is a real adventure bike made for mountains, bad paths and long journeys, and on the other is the perfect combination of style, agility and city commute. Talking about Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and Triumph Scrambler 400X. Both bikes give power of about 40 bhp, but their character is completely different.
Engine
Talking about its engine first, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 comes with a new 452cc liquid-cooled “Sherpa” engine, which produces around 40 bhp of power and 40 Nm of torque. This engine specifically focuses on the low-end and mid-range, so that the bike does not feel tired even while off-roading and carrying heavy luggage.
At the same time, the Triumph Motorcycles Scrambler 400X’s 398cc engine is slightly smaller, but its 37.5 Nm torque gives a lot of punchy feel in the city. This bike looks more light and responsive in traffic.

Off-roading and suspension
If the point is just off-roading, the Himalayan 450 wins a clean win here. Its 21-inch front wheel, greater ground clearance and about 30% more suspension travel make it the king of stones, mud and mountain paths.
The Scrambler 400X is fine for light-hearted off-roading. It gives fun on a raw road, gravel or farm track, but it starts showing its limit on very difficult paths.
Technology and Features
Himalayan 450 is one step ahead in technology. It gets a full-digital TFT display and integrated navigation, which is very useful during touring.
The Scrambler 400X comes with a slightly older school feel. Its analog-digital hybrid console is classic in appearance and gives the necessary information clean. It will be liked by riders who do not like to get into the screen and menu much.

Highways and Touring
When it comes to long distances, the tilt of the Himalayan 450 appears clear. This bike is more stable on the highway and the engine offers comfortable cruising by running at a low RPM. However some riders may feel light vibration at high speed.
The Scrambler also runs fine on the 400X highway, but its real fun comes in the city and short trips. This bike seems more “flickable ” in fast turns, but wind protection and luggage capacity are slightly limited for long touring.
Weight and handling
Scrambler 400X feels much lighter with a weight of around 179 kg. In city traffic, this bike goes out like a fish in water. The Himalayan 450 gives a much heavier and stronger feel. This gives weight off-road and stability on highways, but tight city traffic has to run a bit.
