Mahindra Bolero: The countdown is finally over for SUV enthusiasts as Mahindra’s most reliable utility vehicle is all set to undergo a rejuvenating makeover. Recently caught testing, the new generation of the Mahindra Bolero indicates a trendier and more contemporary look that would make it an even larger success in the Indian market.

New Exterior Design

Spied tests of the new Bolero indicate a total redesign on the exterior. The SUV has a boxy, upright stance that preserves its rugged appeal. The test car shows a new rear design with a spare wheel on the tailgate, which adds to its classic utility-focused image. Vertical grille slats at the front lend it a bold look, and circular LED projector headlamps and rectangular tail lamps are evidence of modern design influences. This new styling might make the Bolero prominent in a segment which has plenty of modern competitors.

Interior Expectations and Additional Features

Though the interior wasn’t completely unveiled during testing, reports from the media indicate the interiors will receive major overhauls soon. Buyers will find new in-cabin technologies on offer, which may include a refreshed infotainment system, a better-laid-out dashboard, and increased comfort amenities. The moves are intended to bring the Bolero in sync with today’s SUV bar but maintain its tough DNA.

Powertrain Expected to Remain the Same

Even with the changes visible on the outside, Mahindra appears likely to stick with the current engine range. The new Bolero is likely to carry forward the 1.5-litre 3-cylinder oil-burner, which churns out 100 bhp of power and 260 Nm of torque. It’s still the tried and tested option for those who want performance and efficiency. There has also been rumour that the 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine variant could be made available but nothing has come to light in that regard.

Why the Bolero Still Matters

It has been a consistent seller in the SUV segment since its introduction. Its numbers tell tale of its acceptance among Indian customers, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas. This update could further cement its status by marrying its ruggedness with an elderly look along with a new-age design language.

Room for New Tech Integration

As Mahindra continues to advance on technology in its newer models, hopes are high that the new Bolero will also receive a boost. From improved connectivity features to more sophisticated safety gear, the SUV has the potential to become more desirable to younger buyers who want practicality with some tech thrown in.
