Kia is all ready to set the electric vehicle market in India on fire with its latest Carens Clavis EV. Following the robust sales of hit models like Sonet and Seltos, Kia has now decided to launch its most affordable electric 7-seater in July 2025. This electric vehicle is designed to take other competitors head-on with strong features and a reasonable price tag. Kia had announced its launch in this May, following the launch of its petrol and diesel variants.
Interior Details
Kia Carens Clavis EV will likely inherit the same interior design as the petrol variant. You will have a similar central console and the new steering wheel design within. This vehicle will come in both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations, which is ideal for large families or people who desire flexibility in seating.
Key Features
This Kia MPV is already famous for its wealthy features, and its electric variant will be no exception. There will be two 12.3-inch displays, one for infotainment and the other for the digital instrument cluster. Other luxurious features that might make an appearance include a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, wireless charging, and a digital key. Powered and ventilated seats are also likely to be offered by Kia for enhanced comfort. On the technology front, V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) and V2L (vehicle-to-load) tech may be available alongside a high-end ADAS safety system.
Battery and Motor Details
For power, the Carens Clavis EV can share the same front axle-mounted motor as the Hyundai Kona EV. The expected 42 kWh battery pack is likely to provide a driving range of 400 to 500 kilometers after a complete charge. For comparison, the Hyundai Creta Electric with a similar configuration achieves a range of 392 kilometers per charge, which makes this Kia marginally superior in terms of range.
Pricing and Market Competition
Kia will most likely price the Carens Clavis EV at a price around ₹20 lakh ex-showroom. This places it closely against the Hyundai Creta Electric. Compared to the BYD eMax7, which is somewhat pricier, Kia’s 7-seater would emerge as a value bet in this emerging segment.
Exterior Design
The new electric Kia will resemble its petrol counterpart quite heavily, with EV-specific tweaks for identity. Spy shots have revealed a shut-off front grille, slinky LED lights, and a charging port centrally located. New alloy wheel designs will also see it stand out. In this manner, Kia will maintain its electric design language across its product portfolio.
