The country’s favourite motorcycle company Hero MotoCorp has launched a rapid campaign to update its vehicles to the new emission norms. In this episode, the company has launched the updated model of its popular commuter bike HF100 in the Indian market. The engine of this bike has now been updated according to OBD2B (On-Board Diagnostic Stage 2B) standards, which will now give a strong mileage of 70 kilometers per liter (km). This update is good news for those who are looking for a bike with great mileage along with being economical.

Design

The company has not made any big changes in the styling of the 2025 Hero HF100 bike. It looks the same as before. The bike is available in two colour options as before – Red Black and Blue Black. This classic and simple design will appeal to those who want a reliable and simple commuter bike.

Hardware and Features

The Hero HF100 has telescopic forks in the front and two-step adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers in the rear for comfortable riding. For braking, it has 130mm drum brakes on both wheels, which come with an integrated braking system. This is Hero’s new version of the Combined Braking System (CBS) in the bike. The bike has 18-inch alloy wheels and 2.75-inch wide tires on both the front and rear wheels. It weighs 110kg, has a 9.1-litre fuel tank, a seat height of 805mm, and a ground clearance of 165mm. The HF100 is a simple commuter bike but gets some useful features like engine-off on fall and side-stand down engine cut-off. The lights are still halogen, though. The console has an analogue speedometer and fuel gauge along with other tell-tale lights.

Performance

The bike is powered by a 97.2cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine, which is now updated to OBD2B emission norms. This engine will produce the 8.02hp of power at 8000rpm and the 8.05Nm of torque at 6000rpm. It is tuned with a 4-speed gearbox. The same engine is also available in the Splendor line-up, Passion Plus, and HF Deluxe. The HF100 still gets the electric start with the kick-start as standard feature. The company claims that this bike has a certified mileage of 70kmpl, which makes it an economical option for everyday use.

Price

However, apart from this update, there has been no change in the design, hardware, and features of the bike. It looks the same as before. Its ex-showroom price has been already kept at the 60,118 rupees, which is just the 1,100 rupees more than the present model. In the Indian market, it competes with bikes like the Bajaj Platina 100, TVS Sport, and Honda Shine 100. Hero has earlier updated the engines of Splendor Plus, Passion Plus, Glamour, Super Splendor XTEC, Xtreme 160R 2V, and Xtreme 160R 4V to OBD2B standards.

What is an OBD2B engine

On-board diagnostic stage 2B (OBD2B) is a part of BS6 regulations, which have become mandatory for all vehicles in India from April 1, 2025. It is an advanced diagnostic system that monitors engine and emission-related problems in real-time. Technical changes were made in the BS6 engine implemented from 1 April 2020 to reduce emissions by 50-70% compared to BS4.

It used a fuel injection system instead of a carburettor and a catalytic converter for exhaust treatment. Apart from this, ECU tuning was also done for better fuel combustion and emission control. OBD2B is another important step in this direction, which aims to make vehicles even more environmentally friendly.
