MG Starlight 560 Hybrid Spied in India – Powerful SUV with Hybrid & EV Options Coming Soon

MG Starlight 560 Hybrid – The craze of the SUV segment in India continues to grow day by day. Every brand is involved in strengthening its portfolio, and in this episode JSW MG Motor has made a big bet. Recently for the first time MG has been spotted in India during the new SUV testing, which is currently known as MG Starlight 560 Hybrid. Interestingly, this SUV may be one of the four new SUVs of MG to be launched this year. So let’s know its details.

MG Starlight 560 Hybrid

JSW MG Motor has now started testing its first new Publicly Manufactured SUV after launching MG Windsor in September 2024. The codename of this new model is placed ‘MG 520’.

This SUV will be positioned above the company’s existing SUV MG Hector. That is, it will be more premium, more powerful and more feature-loaded.

According to information, this SUV is actually a rebadged version of the Wuling Starlight 560 sold in the international market. Its official name has not yet been announced in India, but it is currently being called MG Starlight 560.

Design

Let me tell you that from the model seen during testing, it is being guessed that this plug-in is a hybrid version. The front has a large functional grill that overlooks honeycomb inserts. This design indicates that it is not a fully electric but partial electric ie Hybrid model.

Its rectangular headlamps and front profiles resemble the international version. This SUV looks muscular and modern as if not the younger brother of a big luxury SUV, but the player who came to compete directly.

5 and 7 seat options

Starlight 560 has been introduced in both 5-seater and 7-seater options in the international market. It is expected that JSW MG Motor can offer both seating options in India as well.

If this happens, this SUV can become a great option for families who need both space and technology.

Talking about features, it can get full-LED headlamps and tail lamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, panoramic sunroofs, electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, 360-degree camera system and advanced features like Level 2 ADAS.

Plug-in Hybrid

The Plug-in Hybrid version of the MG Starlight 560 offers a combination of a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine and a Permanent Magnet synchronous motor.

Petrol engine delivers 105 hp of power and 130 Nm of torque, while the electric motor generates 194 hp of power and 230 Nm of torque. Together they power the front wheels.

It has an LFP battery of 20.5 kWh, which gives an EV-only range of about 125 kilometers according to the CLTC cycle.

Pure Electric Version

If you want a fully electric SUV, its Pure EV version is also in the plan. It features a front-mounted electric motor that generates 134 hp power and 200 Nm torque. It gives LFP battery power of 56.7 kWh, giving a range of up to 500 kilometers according to the CLTC cycle. Its top speed can go up to 160 km / h.

Launch Timeline

If it comes to launch, there is a possibility that JSW MG Motor may launch this SUV in the fourth quarter of the year. It will be one of the four new SUVs of MG to be launched this year. The company’s focus is clear to build a strong grip in both the Hybrid and Electric segments.

MG Starlight 560 Hybrid will target customers who want to try Hybrid Technology before moving to Full Electric. At the same time, the Pure EV version will be for those who want to adopt future technology now.
