The company is preparing to launch an all-new midsize SUV on September 3, 2025, which will directly challenge the Hyundai Creta. This new SUV can be named Escudo and it will be sold through Maruti’s Arena dealerships. This SUV will be for those who want a slightly cheaper but stylish option than a premium SUV like Grand Vitara.
Design and look will be powerful
The design of the new Escudo may be similar to the Grand Vitara, but it has been given some fresh and different elements. Its front will see a wide grille, angled LED headlamps and a new bumper which will also have LED fog lights. The bonnet has been raised slightly and a new skid plate will make its look even more rough and tough. At the rear, LED light bars, newly designed taillights and updated tailgate make this SUV even more stylish.
Engine and performance
This Maruti SUV can come with the same engine options as Grand Vitara. It can have 1.5-litre mild hybrid and strong hybrid petrol engines. The mild hybrid variant can be made available in more trims, so that customers of every budget can get a variant of their choice. Full information on its performance and mileage is not yet available, but this car promises to give a balance in both power and efficiency.
Not less in interior and features too
You can get a glimpse of Grand Vitara and e-Vitara in the interior of Escudo. It will have a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that will support wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Along with this, features like semi-digital instrument cluster, electric sunroof, automatic climate control and multiple airbags can be found in it. This SUV will be very modern and user-friendly from inside.
Price and sales information
The ex-showroom price of Escudo can be between ₹ 10 lakh to ₹ 15 lakh. This SUV will be slightly cheaper than Grand Vitara and it will be sold exclusively through Arena dealerships, so that it can reach more people. This SUV is being brought keeping in mind those customers who want to buy an SUV for the first time or want a premium feel in the mid-budget.
