Maruti Suzuki Escudo

Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch two new SUVs in the Indian market, one of which is the Escudo. This 5-seater mid-size SUV will be launched on September 3 and will be slightly cheaper than the Grand Vitara.

But the lower price doesn’t mean there will be any shortage of features! The Escudo will be sold through Arena dealerships, while the Grand Vitara is available at Nexa showrooms.

Design

The design of the Escudo will be similar to the e Vitara and Grand Vitara, but it may also be slightly longer. The interior will be spacious and practical, with a large boot space. Test mules reveal that it will have modern styling, a bold grille and striking LED lights, which will make it stand out on the road.

Features

Now talking about the features, Escudo will not lag behind any competitor in terms of features! It will have features like a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, semi-digital instrument cluster, wireless charger, flat-bottom steering wheel and drive modes. For safety, 6 airbags will be standard, which will make it even more reliable.

Engine

Talking about the engine, Escudo will have 1.5L mild hybrid and 1.5L strong hybrid petrol engine options just like Grand Vitara. Also, CNG variant can be launched. Both manual and automatic transmission options will be available. This SUV will give better mileage and eco-friendly performance due to hybrid technology.

Price

The Escudo is expected to be priced between ₹ 11 lakh and ₹ 16 lakh (ex-showroom), making it a strong competitor against cars like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Mahindra Scorpio N and Toyota Hyryder. Maruti’s move will create a clear segment distinction between the Grand Vitara and the Escudo, so that both models can target different customers.
