Maruti Suzuki e Vitara : Maruti Suzuki has now started its electric journey and the company has made e Vitara the first big step in this direction. This car will be Maruti’s first electric SUV in India and the company is preparing to launch it on a large scale. Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the start of production of this vehicle from Hansalpur plant in Gujarat, which was a historic moment for the company. Not only this, on this occasion, the production of lithium-ion cells and electrodes has also started domestically for the first time in India.

Launch and price

e Vitara was earlier planned to be launched in India soon, but now its date has been extended a bit. Currently, the company is going to announce its price by the end of this year. It is expected that its starting price will start from around Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom). After launch in India, it will compete directly with vehicles like Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, Harrier EV and Mahindra XEV 9e.

Battery and range

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is being brought with two battery packs. The first is of 48.8 kWh and the second larger battery pack is of 61.1 kWh. The larger battery variant will get a range of more than 500 km. The motor in the 49 kWh model gives 144 PS of power and 192.5 Nm of torque. At the same time, the larger battery pack gives out 174 PS of power, while the torque remains the same. The good thing is that with the help of DC fast charging, the battery can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in just 50 minutes.

Design and platform

e Vitara has been prepared on the Heartect-e platform, which Maruti has developed in collaboration with Toyota. Its look is absolutely modern and stylish. The company will offer it in a total of ten different colors. In India, this SUV will currently be available only in the front-wheel-drive version, while the international model also has the option of all-wheel-drive.

Features and technology

Maruti Suzuki has made this vehicle full of features. It includes safety features like Level 2 ADAS, seven airbags, 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability program. Apart from this, it also gets features like 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.1-inch digital driver display, 10-way power adjustable driver seat, ventilated front seat and wireless charging.

Export and future plans

The India-made e Vitara is being sent to international markets first. The initial batch has been sent to countries like UK, Germany, Norway, France and Netherlands. The company aims to make this SUV India’s most exported electric car. Also, Maruti has also decided that its service network will be expanded to 8,000 outlets in the coming years, so that EV users can get better facilities.
