Mahindra, Tata, Kia, Maruti, BYD All Set to Launch New EVs in India by 2025

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Electric vehicles are emerging as a priority for automobile manufacturers in India. With growing demand for clean mobility, major companies are now gearing up to launch new electric vehicles in the months ahead. These new EVs will introduce improved range, enhanced features, and fierce competition in the market. Ranging from Mahindra and Tata to Kia, BYD, and Maruti Suzuki, a host of brands are gearing up to increase their electric offerings in India.

BYD Atto 2

BYD will launch the Atto 2 in India by the end of 2025. The recently spied midsize SUV was tested on Indian roads. Globally, it is available with two battery pack sizes of 45.1 kWh and 51.1 kWh, providing an expected range of up to 410 kilometres. The Atto 2 will compete with Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, and Maruti e Vitara on launch.

Maruti Suzuki and Vitara

Maruti Suzuki is getting set to launch its initial electric vehicle in India, the e Vitara. The first production car is likely to roll out on August 26, followed by the launch. Based on the Heartect-e skateboard platform, it will have two battery pack options—61.1 kWh and 48.9 kWh. With the bigger battery, the e Vitara could have a range of more than 500 kilometres.

Tata Sierra EV

Tata also displayed the near-production Sierra EV at the 2025 Auto Expo. It is expected to be launched during the festive period. Likely to share battery packs with the Harrier EV, it could also be seen in 65 kWh and 75 kWh units. With a reported range of up to 627 kilometres, the Sierra EV could also be equipped with RWD as standard, bolstering Tata’s expanding EV lineup.

Mahindra XEV 7e

Mahindra is also set to launch the XEV 7e, a 7-seater electric SUV, by the end of 2025. The vehicle will be developed on the INGLO skateboard platform and feature two battery options—59 kWh and 79 kWh. The SUV will have a range of more than 600 kilometres. The design of the SUV has already been leaked, giving an impression of a family EV with a lot of space and a contemporary look.

Mahindra XUV 3XO EV

Mahindra is also developing the XUV 3XO EV, which might replace the XUV400 EV. Expected to arrive later this year, it will be a sub-4-meter SUV rivaling the Tata Nexon EV and Kia Syros EV. It should arrive in two battery sizes, 34.5 kWh and 39.4 kWh, giving an estimated range of about 400 kilometres.

Kia Syros EV

Kia has officially announced the Syros EV for India, with its Indian launch likely to happen by late 2025 or early 2026. The styling will include EV-only designs like new bumpers and alloy wheels. Although battery details are not out yet, the Syros EV should achieve a range of around 400 kilometres. It will be directly competing with the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV and Tata Nexon EV.

Honda Elevate EV

Honda is planning to introduce the Elevate EV in India around 2026. Internally, it is known by the codename DG9D and will be powered by a new version of the existing Elevate platform. It is expected to be equipped with a 40–50 kWh battery pack, and it might provide a range of approximately 450 kilometres. The Elevate EV would face competition from Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti e Vitara, and Mahindra BE 6.
