Kia Seltos is already a well-known name in the SUV segment, but now the story is about to reach a new twist. The company has officially confirmed that Kia Seltos Hybrid will enter global markets in the coming times. The plan for India is a bit different, but the intentions are clear to introduce fuel efficiency, performance and technology together. The new generation Seltos will be the first launch in India and will then open the way to the hybrid version.

Global market

Kia India has set major goals for the all-new Seltos. The fully re-designed model will be ready for sale in India from January and will be its first global market. That is, the new Seltos will run on Indian roads before going elsewhere in the world. This platform has been adapted to hybrid systems since the beginning, so that future electrification can be easily added.

Launch timeline

According to the report, the Kia Seltos Hybrid could be launched in India by June 2027. The company wants the hybrid technology to be affordable, so it plans to localize several key components. This is why the hybrid version will take some time to arrive. Kia’s focus is clear: the technology should be advanced, but the price shouldn’t be too expensive for consumers.

Specific engine

The 1.6-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine will be used for the Kia Seltos Hybrid in the global market. But the story is a little different in India. Kia does not manufacture this engine here and there are no plans to localize it at the moment. To keep costs under control, the company can adapt a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine already built in India with a hybrid system.

Performance and mileage

The all-new Seltos is powered by a 1.5-liter petrol engine that delivers 114 hp of power and 144 Nm of torque. Kia may slightly retune this engine for the hybrid version to ensure better synergy with the battery and electric motor. The Seltos Hybrid is expected to deliver a fuel efficiency of around 25 km/l.

Vehicle-to-Load Technology

Another interesting feature is expected to be found in Kia Seltos Hybrid — Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) by-directional charging. In easy terms, the energy stored in the SUV’s traction battery can be used to power the external devices. A camping trip or emergency situation, Seltos Hybrid can act like a moving power bank.
