The 100cc segment in India is reliable, affordable, and perfect for everyday use. Whether it’s commuting to the office, rural roads, or the hustle and bustle of the city, the bikes in this segment are a perfect fit. Two strong contenders in this category are the Honda Shine 100 DX and the Hero Splendor Plus XTEC.
On one hand, Honda’s new and fresh offering, and on the other, Hero’s long-standing reputation for reliability. So, which bike is better? Let’s understand in detail.
Design
Honda Shine 100 DX design is simple and clean. It does not show much noise, but beauty in simplicity. The graphics and body lines are balanced, making it suitable for riders of all ages.
At the same time, Hero Splendor Plus XTEC comes with a little modern touch. LED DRL, new graphics and digital-analog instrument clusters distinguish it from traditional Splendor.

If the design is in line, the Shine 100 DX is like a classic notebook straight and reliable. While the Splendor XTEC is a slightly upgraded version.
Engine
Honda Shine 100 DX gets a 98.98cc engine if it comes to the engine, which generates power of around 7.3 PS and torque of around 8 Nm. Its engine is smooth and runs without shaking in city traffic.
The same Hero Splendor Plus XTEC gets a 97.2cc engine, which gives around 8 PS power and 8.05 Nm torque. Splendor seems a bit more powerful, but in reality both bikes are sufficient for everyday use.
Features
Splendor Plus XTEC goes a little further in features. It features facilities such as digital-analog instrument cluster, Bluetooth connectivity, calls and SMS alerts.
The features in the Honda Shine 100 DX are basic. Analog meters and required indicators are found, but not much technology is provided.
If technology is liked and smart features are needed, then Splendor XTEC may look better. But if only a reliable ride is needed, the Shine 100 DX also does its job well.

Comfort
Talking of Comfort, the Honda Shine 100 DX seat feels a bit wider and softer. At the same time the suspension setup of Splendor Plus XTEC is also comfortable and maintains balance on poor roads. Both bikes are fine for long distances, but Honda’s smooth engine tuning can give a light advantage.
Price
Honda Shine 100 DX price is generally kept slightly lower than the Splendor XTEC, making this budget attractive to buyers. Hero Splendor Plus XTEC is a bit expensive, but it also gets additional features.
If you want more mileage at a lower price, the Shine 100 DX is a sensible option. If you want smart features by spending a little more, then Splendor XTEC will look better.
