Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has made an important announcement that the government is now going to introduce a new system of safety testing for trucks and large commercial vehicles as well. This will be just like the test called “Bharat NCAP” for cars, in which it is seen how safe the car is in an accident.

Nitin Gadkari said that the objective of this new scheme is that vehicle manufacturing companies make better quality and safer vehicles. This announcement is a big step towards reducing the loss of life and property in road accidents and making the roads even safer.

The government also emphasizes increasing the safety of e-rickshaws

Nitin Gadkari also said that the government is now working on making safety rules and testing systems for battery-operated e-rickshaws as well. He said that the lack of safety in the e-rickshaws currently running in the country is a big problem.

Nitin Gadkari said that if the safety and quality of e-rickshaws improves, it will give work to many people and increase employment. Along with this, the traffic system in cities will also improve and passengers will get safe travel. It is clear from this that the government also wants to make e-rickshaws more safe and durable so that everyone benefits.

Plan to completely reduce the number of road accidents in India

Nitin Gadkari said that in 2023, the Government of India launched “Bharat NCAP”. It aims to improve the road safety of small and light vehicles, especially motor vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes. He said that about 4.8 lakh road accidents occur in India every year, in which about 1.8 lakh people lose their lives.

Nitin Gadkari said that the biggest priority of the government is to increase road safety so that safer roads and highways can be built. Apart from this, increasing the safety of vehicles and promoting electric vehicles are also included in the main plans of the government.

Preparation to fix the working hours of truck drivers

Nitin Gadkari also said that the Road Ministry aims to reduce the cost of logistics (freight) from 14-16% to 9% in a few years. Apart from this, the ministry is also making a new law regarding the working hours of truck drivers. Nitin Gadkari said that currently, truck drivers drive for 13-14 hours a day, which is dangerous for their health and causes accidents. The government is trying to give safe and balanced working hours to drivers through this new law.

All these steps reflect the serious efforts of the government to increase road safety and reduce accidents in India. Introducing a safety testing system for trucks, heavy vehicles, and e-rickshaws and fixing the working hours of truck drivers, all these measures will make road safety even stronger and make the roads safer for everyone.
