If you’re considering purchasing a new petrol SUV, the coming months may be exciting. By November 2025, industry giants Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Tata Motors will roll out new petrol versions that are stylish. The SUVs are expected to feature new designs, cutting-edge features, and high-power engines and hence will be compelling options for Indian buyers interested in looking beyond diesel or CNG.
Maruti Escudo
Maruti is gearing up for its next flagship SUV, commonly referred to by the name Escudo. Based on the Grand Vitara platform, this mid-sized SUV will receive both manual and automatic transmission options. It could sport the familiar 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, with a petrol-hybrid and CNG version as well. The Escudo will be retailed only through Arena dealerships, thus differing from the Grand Vitara that will be sold through Nexa outlets.
New-Gen Hyundai Venue
The new-gen Hyundai Venue is likely to carry over its existing line of engines, such as the 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre turbo petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel. But the focus will be on its updated styling and high-end features. Customers can expect a dual 12.3-inch screen layout, ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, and refreshed ADAS package. With these features, the Venue plans to be one of the most fashionable sub-compact SUVs out there.
Tata Punch Facelift
Tata Motors will also launch the Punch facelift. Taking cues from the Punch EV, the 2025 model can usher in a larger touchscreen, a touchscreen-based HVAC panel, and an all-new steering wheel. It will carry over the 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol motor that churns out 87 bhp and 115 Nm torque. Transmission choices can be both a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT, providing versatility for city and highway use.
Tata Harrier Petrol
The Tata Harrier, till now offered in diesel alone, will at last receive a petrol variant. The new car shall be driven by Tata’s brand-new 1.5-litre TGDi turbo petrol engine, calibrated to produce 170 bhp and 280 Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic transmissions shall be available to customers. Other than the new motor, there aren’t any design or layout changes to be anticipated.
Tata Safari Petrol
Just like the Harrier, the Tata Safari will also arrive with the new 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine. With the same power and torque level, it will deliver robust highway performance while maintaining refinement in check. The Safari petrol will also come with manual as well as automatic gearbox options, providing customers with several choices within Tata’s premium SUV offering.
