Maharashtra, India’s second-largest state in terms of the number of electric vehicles, has taken a revolutionary step and approved the new Electric Vehicle Policy. The main objective of this policy is to rapidly increase the number of electric vehicles in the state and eliminate range anxiety by building charging infrastructure on a large scale. After the cabinet approval, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also emphasized the government’s commitment to electric vehicles in the state and the goal of making EVs more affordable for the general public. This new policy will usher in a new era of electric mobility in Maharashtra.

EV buyers will be in for a treat
Under the new policy, subsidies will be given to electric vehicles to promote them. Not only this, electric vehicles will also get an exemption from tolls! Apart from this, special attention will also be given to strengthening the electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the state under the policy. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the implementation of the new 2025 Maharashtra EV Policy can lead to a huge increase in electric vehicle manufacturing and demand for EVs. This policy will be valid till 2030 and the state government has set a huge budget of ₹ 1,993 crore for this EV policy. This financial incentive will play an important role in the adoption of electric vehicles.
You will get a direct 10 percent discount on the purchase of EVs
Under the new EV policy, the Maharashtra government aims to implement clean mobility by 2030 by giving discounts on the purchase of electric vehicles. Under this strategy, electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, state transport corporation buses, private buses, and transport undertakings under civic bodies will get a direct discount of 10 percent on their original cost! This attractive offer will motivate common people to buy electric vehicles.

Huge discount on toll
Electric cargo three-wheelers four-wheelers and electric tractors will be given a huge discount of 15 percent on their original cost. Registration fees for electric vehicles will also be waived under the new EV policy. Moreover, under this policy, tolls will be waived completely for four-wheeler electric vehicles and buses using the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, Atal Setu, and Samruddhi Mahamarg. The toll for these vehicles plying on state and other national highways will be only 50 percent toll! This historic move will provide a strong impetus for the adoption of electric vehicles and reduce transportation costs to a great extent.
