Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to expand its SUV lineup in India with fresh models across different categories. From electric to hybrid, compact to three-row seating, the brand is planning smart moves to capture more SUV buyers. If you’re thinking of buying a new SUV in the next year or two, these upcoming Maruti models might be worth waiting for.

7-Seater Grand Vitara

Maruti is considering a three-row version of the popular Grand Vitara. This new model will compete with the Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari. It is expected to come with added features to suit larger families. By offering more seats and space, this SUV could be a practical pick for those looking for comfort and utility in one package.

Maruti Micro SUV

A brand-new micro SUV is also in the works. Maruti may launch it by late 2026 or early 2027. This car will compete with models like the Hyundai Exter and Tata Punch. Reports suggest it might also come with a hybrid engine, focusing on better fuel economy and lower emissions. It will likely target budget-conscious city buyers.

Maruti e-Vitara

The e-Vitara will be Maruti’s first fully electric SUV. Expected to launch by September 2025, this EV will offer two battery options. A driving range of over 500 km per charge and fast charging support will make it a strong contender in the electric SUV market. Built on a special EV platform called Heartect e, the e-Vitara will be sold under Nexa and may also have a Toyota version.

Fronx Hybrid

Maruti is also testing a new hybrid version of the Fronx. This model could use a Smart Hybrid system similar to what’s seen in the exported Dzire. With this change, buyers could get better mileage and performance. It would be a more fuel-efficient option in the compact crossover category, adding value to the Fronx range.

Maruti Suzuki Escudo

Another exciting model in the pipeline is the Maruti Escudo. It will be a five-seater SUV placed just below the Grand Vitara. Though it may be slightly longer than the Vitara, it’s expected to share engine options with it. Launch could happen in the coming months, and this SUV will likely appeal to buyers looking for a stylish yet practical ride.
