Shivling Prasad Rules: In Hinduism, offering food during worship is considered especially significant. Furthermore, offerings made to deities are accepted as prasad. However, regarding offerings to the Shivalinga, the Shiva Purana outlines specific rules. So, today we will explain some essential rules regarding offerings to the Shivalinga.
This is stated in the Shiva Purana
The Shiva Purana states that any offering made to the Shivalinga is dedicated to Chandeshwar, one of Lord Shiva’s followers. Chandeshwar is also considered the chief of ghosts and spirits. Therefore, according to belief, any offering made to the Shivalinga should not be accepted, as it results in inauspicious consequences.
You can accept this offering
According to the rules, accepting offerings made to a Shivalinga made of silver, copper, or brass is considered highly auspicious. Furthermore, accepting offerings made to a mercury Shivalinga is considered auspicious. However, do not accept offerings made to a clay, stone, or porcelain Shivalinga. You can also accept offerings placed near the Shivalinga.
Mistaken Mistakes
Never disrespect or discard Prasad. Please do not throw it around.. Doing so could result in sin. Also, do not give stale Prasad to anyone. This could lead to inauspicious consequences. Only pure offerings should be offered to the Shivalinga.
