Amla Navami 2025: Akshaya Navami, also known as Amla Navami, is celebrated on the ninth day of the Shukla Paksha (waxing moon) of the month of Kartika. Akshaya Navami is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and on this day, both Lord Vishnu and Amla are worshipped.

Importance of Amla Navami
Mythological legends suggest that when Lord Vishnu took the form of Vamana and asked King Bali for three steps of land, he measured the entire earth in three steps. He also sent King Bali to the underworld. King Bali’s wife prayed to Lord Vishnu to free her husband.
After this, Lord Vishnu granted King Bali’s wife a boon that worshipping the Amla tree would grant King Bali salvation. Since then, the tradition of worshipping the Amla tree began. It is said that Lord Shiva, along with Lord Vishnu, resides in the Amla tree.
Amla Navami Worship Method
- Now, regarding the Amla Navami worship method, clean the area beneath the Amla tree after bathing in the morning.
- Afterwards, worship the tree with turmeric, rice, kumkum, or vermillion.
- Meditate on the names of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi.
- In the evening, a ghee lamp is lit beneath the Amla tree.
- Circumambulate the Amla tree seven times and distribute Prasad among family and friends.
- Eating while sitting under the Amla tree is also considered to be of special significance.
