Aadhaar Card Update: No more worries regarding Aadhaar Card update. There is a big relief for every card holders. The Aadhaar app has been enhanced to include the option to update mobile numbers, in addition to updating addresses. This development by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) enables eligible Aadhaar holders to conveniently request mobile number updates from their homes. This service is accessible only to individuals whose previous mobile number is connected to Aadhaar and can receive a one-time password (OTP).
Key points from the process include:
– The new feature allows for updating mobile numbers from the comfort of home.
– Users must download the Aadhaar app on their mobile device and complete the registration process.
– Verification is carried out using an OTP sent to the old registered mobile number after entering the Aadhaar number.
– Following this, face authentication is conducted, and a security PIN is set.

– In the Services section of the app, users can select the Mobile Number Update option for verification through OTP on the old mobile number, entering the new mobile number, and verifying the OTP sent to it.
– The application process includes face authentication and an online payment of Rs 75.
– Once the application is approved, the mobile number update procedure will commence, and the new number will be added to the Aadhaar database within 24 hours.
It is important to note that individuals with deactivated old mobile numbers, lost SIM cards, or unusable SIMs for any reason cannot update their mobile numbers through the Aadhaar app. This enhancement broadens the digital services available through the Aadhaar app, which previously focused mainly on address updates, requiring a visit to an Aadhaar service center for mobile number changes.
Such individuals will need to visit the nearest Aadhaar service center with the required documents and undergo biometric verification. The mobile number update process will be completed only after paying the prescribed fee of Rs 75. What was there before, what has changed now? Until now, the Aadhaar app primarily allowed for address updates. Visiting an Aadhaar service center was mandatory to update your mobile number. The UIDAI has now added the mobile number update option to the Aadhaar app. However, this feature is only available to those whose old mobile number is still active and linked to Aadhaar.
