Instead of visiting an Aadhaar centre, you can initiate the process online by following the prescribed steps and submitting the necessary information and supporting documents, wherever required. Keeping your Aadhaar details accurate and up to date is important because the document is widely used for identity verification and accessing various government and other services. Before submitting a request, make sure that the family member’s details are correct and that you meet the eligibility criteria for the HoF-based update.
Depending on the process, the Head of Family may also need to provide consent for the request to be approved. Once the application is submitted, follow the available instructions to track its status and check whether the update has been completed successfully. Who can become Head of Family?
You can choose any eligible member of your family as the head of the household. This includes your parents, spouse, or any other relative. However, keep in mind that you cannot choose your brother or sister as the head of the household.

Address update process:
Open the official website of UIDAI or Aadhaar App.
After logging in, click on the option ‘Update Address’.
Select ‘Head of Family (HoF) Based Address Update’ option.
Enter the Aadhaar number of your family member (father/mother/husband etc.) whom you are making HoF.
After this, a request/OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number of the HoF. Once they approve, the process will be completed.
