Vande Bharat Express: Building on the success of the 16-coach Vande Bharat Sleeper, Indian Railways is gearing up to roll out an upgraded 24-coach Vande Bharat model. This new train will boast a completely air-conditioned pantry car and premium features that will outshine even the country’s most luxurious train, the Rajdhani Express. The Integral Coach Factory in Chennai and BEML in Bengaluru are collaborating to develop this expanded 24-coach version, with the initial prototype expected to be completed by year-end.
24-Coach Vande Bharat Soon?
While the current 16-coach Vande Bharat Sleeper accommodates 823 passengers, the new 24-coach variant will seat 1,224 travelers. The fully air-conditioned pantry car will guarantee fresh, premium meals throughout extended journeys. Every coach will include a mini-pantry along with dedicated storage and distribution areas for linens and towels. Indian Railways plans to deploy 50 of these high-capacity trains on the nation’s most congested and extensive routes.

Vande Bharat Express Outperforms Rajdhani Express
The fresh Vande Bharat Express will serve as a superior choice to the Rajdhani Express on routes spanning 1,500 to 2,000 kilometers. Passengers will enjoy a smooth ride thanks to cutting-edge shock-absorbing suspension technology. Water in glasses stays put without spilling. Smart sensor-activated sliding doors manage intercoms, removing the hassle of manually operating doors from outside. Every berth features individual reading and viewing lights, USB power outlets, and personalized cushions. First-class AC compartments will include hot shower facilities. The train incorporates comprehensive safety measures including a crash-resistant protective shell, surveillance cameras throughout, fire safety equipment, and protective crash buffers.
When was the country’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper inaugurated?
The country’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train began operations on January 17th between Howrah in Bengal and Kamakhya in Guwahati. The train covers the 968-km journey in 14 hours, compared to a typical train’s 17-18 hours. Soon, these trains may also be operated on routes like Delhi-Patna, Delhi-Guwahati, and Delhi-Varanasi.

Second AC: 3000

Why Vande Bharat is better than Rajdhani?
Vande Bharat, unlike the Rajdhani Express, doesn’t have a heavy engine. It runs on a trainset, like the metro. Consequently, Vande Bharat accelerates quickly and saves time. Like an airplane, it features vacuum toilets, automatic doors, and comfortable cushioned seats. However, with premium quality, fares will be slightly higher.
