The central government has come up with a big health scheme for people above 80 years of age. Now anyone aged 80 years or above can get an Ayushman Vaibhav Vandana card. With the help of this card, you can get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh (Rs 10 lakh in Delhi) in any hospital in the country. In particular, there is no income requirement for this. What is the Ayushman Vaibhav Vandana card?
In 2024, the central government launched this card for people above 70 years of age under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PMJAY). The main objective of this card is to provide them with better healthcare. With the benefits of this scheme, you will no longer have to worry about the cost of treatment up to Rs 5 lakh. Through this card, every citizen above 70 years of age will get a top-up of Rs 5 lakh.

Required documents and eligibility
Eligibility: You must be 70 years of age or above. (This age will be determined as per the date of birth mentioned in the Aadhaar card.)
Documents: Only an Aadhaar card and a mobile number linked to Aadhaar are required.
How to apply online from home
You can generate this card in easy steps from your mobile or computer.
Step 1: Log in
First, go to the official website of Ayushman Bharat: [link removed]
Enter your mobile number and captcha code.
Log in with the OTP received on your mobile.
Step 2: Register
After logging in, you will see the option “Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana for Senior Citizens”.
Click on the option “Click here to register” below it.
Now enter your Aadhaar number and captcha code. If you have not registered before, you will see the message “Click here for new registration for those above 70 years”.
On the next page, there will be three options for e-KYC:
Aadhaar OTP
Fingerprint
IRIS Scan
You can choose any one of the options as per your convenience. (e.g. Aadhaar OTP).
Step 3: Complete e-KYC
Now, click on ‘Verify’.
Allow by ticking the option ‘Yes, as per my wish’.
You will then receive two OTPs: one on the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar and the other on the mobile number with which you have logged in.
Complete e-KYC successfully with these two OTPs.
Once the e-KYC is done, you will be asked if you are availing the benefits of any other health scheme. If you select ‘No’, your details will be displayed on the screen.

Step 4: Fill the application form
Take a photograph of your face clearly visible.
Enter your mobile number and verify it with the OTP.
Select the category (SC/ST/General) you belong to.
Fill in the pin code, district, urban/rural area, city and other details.
Step 5: Family member details
You can fill in the details of your other family members such as name, Aadhaar number, date of birth and mobile number.
After filling in the details, click on “Add Member”.
After filling in all the details, tick the declaration ‘The information I have provided is correct’ and click on ‘Submit’.
Your registration process is now complete! You will be able to download your Ayushman Boy Vandana card in a few moments. With this easy method, you can create this card for yourself or your family’s elderly members from home.
