Bihar Budget 2026: ₹9,000 Annual Aid Announced for 73 Lakh Farmers

Bihar Budget 2026 Update: February 3, 2026, was a very happy day for over 7.3 million farmers in Bihar. Presenting the new budget in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, State Finance Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav officially announced the “Jananayak Karpuri Thakur Kisan Samman Nidhi” scheme. Fulfilling the promise made by the JDU-BJP alliance in its election manifesto to increase farmers’ income, the financial assistance provided to the state’s farmers has been significantly increased.

Financial assistance of ₹9,000 will now be provided

Under this new scheme, Bihar farmers will receive additional financial assistance from the state government in addition to the central government’s PM-KISAN scheme. Currently, farmers receive ₹6,000 annually through the PM-KISAN scheme, but now the Bihar government will provide an additional ₹3,000.

Thus, eligible farmers in Bihar will now receive a total of ₹9,000 annually. This additional amount will be disbursed in three equal installments, meaning that, along with the central installment of ₹2,000 received every four months, an additional installment of ₹1,000 from the state government will also be credited to farmers’ accounts.

PM Kisan’s 22nd Installment

Farmers are curious as to whether they will receive this benefit with the upcoming 22nd installment. It’s important to understand that since the Finance Minister has only announced this scheme in the budget, it may take some time to develop detailed guidelines and allocate funds.

The 22nd installment of PM-KISAN is expected around March or April 2026. This new state government scheme will likely be fully effective from the next financial year, April 2026, allowing farmers to receive a total of ₹3,000 instead of ₹2,000 in subsequent installments.

The biggest advantage of this scheme is that farmers will not need to complete any new registrations or visit offices. The Bihar government has fully automated it. If you are already an active beneficiary of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi and your e-KYC and land seeding process is complete, your name will automatically be added to the Jananayak Karpuri Thakur Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.

The money will be transferred directly to your Aadhaar-linked bank account through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). If a farmer is not yet enrolled in any scheme, they can register themselves anew by visiting the PM-Kisan portal to receive benefits from both the central and state governments.
