What is Inter-Caste Marriage Scheme?
This Maharashtra government scheme is called Incentive to Encourage Inter-Caste Marriage . Its purpose is to reduce caste discrimination and promote equality and social unity in society. Under this scheme , if one of the spouses in a marriage belongs to the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, VJ, NT , or SBC categories , the government provides assistance. A total incentive of Rs 3 lakh is provided under this scheme. This includes Rs 50,000 from the Maharashtra government and Rs 2.5 lakh from the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Foundation. This amount is transferred directly to the couple’s joint bank account.
Who gets the benefit of this scheme?
To benefit from this scheme, both husband and wife must be permanent residents of Maharashtra. One of the couple must belong to a Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, or Scheduled Caste. Furthermore, their marriage must be registered under the Hindu Marriage Act 1955 or the Special Marriage Act 1954. The groom must be at least 21 years old and the bride 18 years old. Furthermore, this must be the couple ‘s first marriage to qualify for the scheme .

How to apply for Inter-Caste Marriage Scheme?
Applications for this scheme can be made both online and offline . To apply online, applicants must visit the official website of the Maharashtra government’s Social Justice Department and select the Inter-Caste Marriage Scheme option . Offline applications can also be made by obtaining a form from the District Social Welfare Officer’s office
