When your driving license and RC have the correct mobile number linked, you receive e-challan information directly on your phone instantly. In addition, information related to vehicle tax, insurance, permits, and other services is also sent to the same number. Having the correct number also makes the verification of your documents on the DigiLocker and mParivahan apps easier.

How to update your mobile number on DL and RC online
To update your mobile number, first, you need to visit the official website of the Transport Department. After reaching the website, go to the Online Services section and select the Vehicle Related Services option. Then click on Other Services or Miscellaneous Services. Here you will see the option to update your mobile number.

Now enter your vehicle registration number and chassis number. After that, enter your new mobile number and generate an OTP. An OTP will be sent to your new number, which you will have to enter in the designated field and submit.

Things to keep in mind
The mobile number you are updating must be registered in your name. The number will be successfully updated only after the OTP verification is complete. As soon as the process is complete, your new mobile number will be linked to your driving license and RC. After this, you will start receiving e-challans and all other important vehicle-related alerts on that new number.
