Indian Railways Discount: If you too are planning to travel by Indian Railways in the new year, then there is good news for you. The Railway Ministry has announced a discount on unreserved tickets. From January 14 to July 14, 2026, passengers will get a 3% discount on purchasing tickets through the RailOne App and making payment through any digital medium. Currently, this facility was available only in the form of cashback on ticket bookings through R-Wallet, but now its scope has been extended to all digital payments.

In this regard, a letter was sent by the Railway Ministry to the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) to make necessary changes in the software system. The letter said that with a view to promote digital booking, it has been decided to give a discount of three percent on booking of unreserved tickets through all digital payment modes on the RailOne app.

From when to when will the discount be available?

It stated that the three percent discount offer will be applicable from January 14, 2026, to July 14, 2026. CRIS will submit its feedback on the proposal in May for further scrutiny. The letter clarified that the existing three percent cashback offered on bookings made through the R-Wallet app on the RailOne app will continue.

Clarifying that this offer is not available on any other online unreserved ticket purchase platform, an official said that in the current system, prospective passengers purchasing unreserved tickets on the RailOne app and paying through R-Wallet are offered a three percent cashback. However, in the new offer, those purchasing unreserved tickets on RailOne through all digital payment modes will be given a three percent discount.
