The second round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 season was played on December 26, where Delhi, Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Baroda, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka registered their second consecutive wins. Puducherry, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh and Services suffered their second consecutive defeats.
A total of 19 matches were played in the Plate and Elite groups, with 14 centuries scored. The Plate Group saw no centuries in the second round, while the Elite Group saw 14 centuries. Rinku Singh, Karun Nair, Dhruv Shorey, Lalit Yadav, and Devdutt Padikkal scored centuries during this period. Sixteen matches were played in the Elite Group, while three matches were played in the Plate Group.
In the first round of the tournament, there was a long list of batters who scored centuries for their respective State teams. In the opening day of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26, there were multiple matches where runs were piled up in large numbers. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, for Mumbai and Delhi respectively, registered match winning centuries as well. A double hundred knock was registered by Odisha batter Swastik Samal.

The Vijay Hazare Trophy was launched in 1993-94 and was played in a zonal format. Since 2002-03, the tournament has been played at the national level. Since then, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have won the title five times each, while Mumbai has won four times.
