Indigo Flight Cancel Compensation: Thousands of passengers were left in a difficult situation due to the frequent cancellations of Indigo flights. The cancellation of more than 5,000 flights in nine days affected those who had already booked tickets and reached the airport the most. Now, there is good news for these passengers.
IndiGo has stated that those who have suffered significant hardship will receive compensation ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000. This amount will be provided in the form of a travel voucher, which can be used on any IndiGo flight for the next 12 months. Let us explain how passengers can receive compensation of Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 and what the rules are.
How much compensation will each passenger get?
According to IndiGo, passengers whose flights are cancelled within 24 hours of departure will receive a voucher worth between Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000, depending on the flight’s block time and route. Additionally, passengers who face difficulties like being stuck at airports for hours, standing in crowds, or having to change gates repeatedly will receive a separate travel voucher worth up to Rs 10,000.
The airline has stated that passengers who experienced the worst during the massive disruption between December 2nd and 5th will be given priority. This means that if you were among the passengers who experienced problems during this time, you are eligible for compensation.
What process needs to be followed for the claim?
Many travelers are wondering how to get this compensation. The process is simple. Keep your flight booking details handy. Then, visit IndiGo’s website, mobile app, or customer care channel. In the Refunds and Compensation section, upload your canceled flight’s PNR, travel date, stranding status, and a complete record of any messages you received.
If you had to wait for hours at the airport, photos, videos, or screenshots of instructions provided by the staff are very helpful. Many passengers simply leave with a refund, but this time the matter was serious. Therefore, the airline is requesting records from passengers themselves so that vouchers can be issued quickly.
If you don’t get it, complain here
If IndiGo doesn’t respond within the stipulated time or your claim gets stuck, apply through the DGCA’s complaints portal. From there, the matter reaches the regulator directly, and the airline is required to respond. The Consumer Commission is also open if desired. IndiGo has stated that it will compensate you for the damages this time. All you need to do is file your claim on time and correctly.
