The Uttar Pradesh government has implemented a sensitive and effective scheme for children who are vulnerable and facing financial hardship due to difficult circumstances. The Chief Minister’s Child Service Scheme provides such children with a monthly assistance of 4,000 rupees, enabling them to meet their education, food, clothing, and daily needs. Initiation and Expansion of the Scheme
This scheme was launched during the COVID pandemic when thousands of children were orphaned and needed immediate assistance. Over time, the government realised that poverty, illness, homelessness, and social exploitation also put many children in difficult situations. Therefore, the scheme was expanded to include all children who truly deserve assistance. Today, in many districts of the state, such children are found living at railway stations, on footpaths, or in temporary shelters. This scheme has emerged as a ray of hope for them.
Which children can benefit from the scheme?
People often don’t understand who is eligible for this scheme. The government has clarified that benefits will only be available to children whose families are financially weak. In rural areas, the family’s annual income should not exceed ₹72,000, while for urban families, this limit is set at ₹96,000. If a child has lost both parents, the income limit does not apply, and they receive direct financial assistance under the scheme.
Required Documents for Application
To avail the scheme, the child and their family must submit certain mandatory documents. These include the child’s and parents’ Aadhaar cards, income certificates, age certificates, parental death certificates, and school attendance certificates. The application is submitted to the Probation Office located in Vikas Bhawan. After the documents are submitted, a team of officials visits the home and conducts a thorough verification. Once the verification is complete, the monthly assistance amount is transferred to the child’s account via DBT.
Age Limit and Number of Children in the Family
Only children under the age of 18 can apply for the scheme. If two children in a family are eligible, both are eligible for the scheme. This total assistance of ₹8,000 per month is a significant relief for families with extremely poor financial circumstances, where children’s education is often interrupted.

There have been numerous cases where children’s education has been completely disrupted due to the serious illness or death of their parents. Family income becomes so low that even making two meals a day becomes difficult. In such circumstances, the ₹4,000 received each month brings new hope to the children’s lives.
