On this grand and auspicious day for Maruti Suzuki in India, it launched the country’s first electric SUV. Surprisingly, Maruti kept itself grounded to practicality, styling, and affordability as always. This long-anticipated model is now ready on Indian shores.

The International trip began earlier than India.

May be for the electric SUV, all that is made in India at Germo modular plant and some part exported to the rest of the world. That, of course, would just about sum it up; before it came to India, the e-Vitara had already been released into the open market. Keeping in with the current scenario, Maruti enters many more countries-their increasing vigour on the EV front is apparent.

Selling will be through Nexa showrooms, and competition in that price bracket would get heated

e-Vitara will be sold through the Nexa premium distribution network of Maruti. The introductory price is expected to go north of Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom). The idea is to target customers wanting an extremely feature-rich yet very trustworthy electric SUV. Hot enough as the EV space itself is, this newly introduced vehicle will face stiff competition.

Two battery packs and strong motor

The e-Vitara runs on BYD LFP batteries and is given as an option in two sizes, the options being 48.8kWh and 61.1kWh, both of which are supposed to give over 500km range. While the bigger version produces 174 PS, which is the smaller version rated at 144 PS, yet both seem to share the same value of 192.5Nm in torque.

It will take about 50 minutes to get charged from 0 to 80% with DC fast charging, which has sure advantages on long journeys.
